NZ Style Curvettes - Christmas Day

Two weeks ago I was very fortunate to win an amazing Eve maxi dress from EmbodyDenim and I knew instantly that it would be my Christmas Day outfit! And let's be honest, everyone loves to wear something new on Christmas Day!

For a day that is [for me] reserved for chilling with family, assembling toys, eating way too much, napping and just plain old lazing about with awesome company, this dress was perfect!
Originally I thought the size 20 would be too long for me, as that is usually the case for me as I'm probably around 5'4" but this dress was just the perfect length! Even if it was too long, if it was getting in my way, or I just wanted to change it up I could easily knot it to make it more 3/4 length.

It's been a long day and I'm starting to get a bit sleepy (most likely from eating too much) so I'll end it there!

Thankyou heaps to EmbodyDenim who really helped make this Christmas special for me considering it hasn't been all that easy.
Merry Christmas to you all! I will see you for the New Years challenge!!

Outfit details:
• Eve dress || EmbodyDenim || RRP$249 however I won it on Instagram!
• Swarovski black crystal drop earrings || Opshopped
• Just Bitten Kissable balm stain || Revlon

NZ Style Curvettes - Night Out

The weather in Bendigo the last week has been off the charts! Yesterday it was about 42°C so I hardly even left the house, let alone thought about a night out! Finally, last night, a cool change came through just in time for the Christmas Carols in the Park.

For at least the past 3 years I have volunteered for Rotary at the Christmas Carols and worked on the merchandise table selling glowsticks and Santa hats. It's been great fun!

I was excited about actually getting out of the house! And decided it was about time I started getting in the festive spirit so I got all dressed up. I actually felt a bit like a young Mrs. Claus!

Here's a few photos from the night!

My Mum & I being presents.
TAC had a free photo set up inside a giant inflatable present. It was all to do with their current Christmas campaign that reminded people that the best present at Christmas is to be present [implying we need a zero death toll on the roads this season]. My Mum & I were encouraged to dress up as presents and we obliged; however if I was a present I would be much more colour coordinated than I am in the above photo!

Hard at work.
Posing for a photo at Rotary's merch table for the local newspaper. Photo credit is to Noni Hyett at The Bendigo Advertiser.

Me and Santa.
Of course he has a very busy schedule so he couldn't actually stop for this photo!

Bright lights!
I couldn't leave out a pic of our towns Christmas Tree with the fountain lit up in the background. It is hilariously yet also sadly now under 24hr protection from a friendly motorcycle group to prevent some grinch like vandals from striking again!

NZ Style Curvettes - Hats/Headwear

My beginning of December has had quite a few photo-a-day challenges going on. For the first 7 days I had five challenges going on and tried to incorporate them all into one photo! Definitely a challenge!!

On the 6th day of these challenges I had the following prompts: Frankie says Relax, Put a hat on it, Shoes, Weather and as it was a Sunday, my fave lipstick for the 7 day lipstick challenge.
So from all of those prompts this is the outfit I put together.

This black top is one of my very first ever City Chic purchases. I wish I had bought it in every colour cause it is so comfy and I wear it heaps. These capri pants are a stretchy elastic kind of material, making them really comfy too! And are one of the first things I purchased from Hope and Harvest.
So both of these obviously covered the Frankie says relax challenge.

Put a hat on it, and Weather clearly covered each other and was totally appropriate where I'm from because we have had some pretty hot days already! We've almost had days get up to 40°C so the NZ Style Curvettes challenge theme of Hats (or headwear) is very appropriate!

To see more of my challenges check me out on Instagram here.

NZ Style Curvettes - Stripes

The challenge theme for this week is stripes however I can't seem to think of anything but my new Black Tea Skirt from Pho Sizzle.

Yes this outfit does have stripes in it and they make the outfit because without them it would be all black and basic but I'm choosing to make this blog post all about this skirt because I am totally in Love with it!

Back around August this year I did a review of a couple of items I bought from the Lollygaggers Collection  (see my review post here ).
One of these items was the gorgeous hot pink Folly Tea Skirt

 And i mentioned or hinted in the blog that I reckon the same skirt in black would sell out quick. Next thing I know Phosizzle have a sneak peak of their soon to come out Gentle Persuasion of the Iblis collection featuring, what do you know, a black tea skirt!

Well being unemployed means Im pretty darn broke which totally sucks so I sold some of my clothes to find new clothes.

When I spoke to Pho Sizzle designer, Jacqui from blog Fashion and Pho, I was pleasantly surprised to find I would get it half price!! Due to the new Pho sizzle membership I would get 10% off PLUS a one off just joining membership bonus of 40%. Woo!

And that is the story of my black tea skirt! :)

• Black tea skirt || PhoSizzle || $45 (50% off!!)
• Black singlet || holeproof
• Striped bolero ||

Spin The Pin - November '15

The photo or PIN, to take inspiration from this month and SPIN my own way was this gorgeous outfit below by Folake at StyleLaundry.

I see a bright, bold colour with a clear link between the top and bottom pieces through the colouring. And I also can't help but see an amazing, flowing long skirt.

I knew instantly that I wanted to wear a long sheer skirt I recently opshopped but had to figure out how to connect the top and bottom with bright colours.

So I decided to use a green peplum and link it to the bottom half by wearing a shorter green skirt under my long sheer black skirt.
Added my matching green clutch and a bit of lippy and there you have out! My SPIN inspired by the PIN!

Outfit Details:
• Green peplum || City Chic || Opshopped for $3
• Black belt || Off a City Chic dress
• Green skirt || Avella || Opshopped for $7.25
• Black sheer pleated maxi skirt || Lovers || Opshopped for $2
• Green clutch || Opshopped for $3
• Black heels || Target || Opshopped for $3
• Black tassel earrings || Opshopped for $3

NZ Style Curvettes - Bright

My older brother and his wife are expecting a baby in the next few months, and have decided to go on a Babymoon (last holiday away before the bub arrives) so I have been housesitting for the last week.

Now you know that saying "A change is as good as a holidays", well yes it's great unless you wanna take some outfit photos and discover what you have packed doesn't really work for the theme you were going for.

So that said, there are some major flaws with my Bright outfit pics, however to make up for that I have done 2 [half] outfit pics so it sorta equals one good proper one, in my mind anyway.

Outfit 1 - Complimentary Colours
When I read 'bright' as this weeks theme, I automatically thought of my new [secondhand] bright orange blazer I opshopped just the other day for a whole dollar! I don't really own any blazers, but this one just stood out so I had to get it, especially considering just the day before I wore an orange based outfit with some of my fave (orange of course) wedges.

I love this orange blazer with this blue singlet cause the colours just compliment each other, of course, because orange and blue are complementary colours.

Outfit 1 flaw:
I am not wearing anything (other than underwear) on the bottom half! Lol I just didn't have anything that went!
I would probably have used a blue skirt I have the same colour as the singlet with a thin black belt to break up the massive block of blue and wear my orange wedges I mentioned earlier. See these in the pic below.

Outfit 2 - My Christmas dress
I bought this dress a while back on a visit to Melbourne....quite some time ago really...last year cause I wore this dress on Christmas day (2014). I haven't worn it at all since then, I don't know why though. So it got placed in my suitcase for my housesitting stint and then I saw it and thought "hmmm I could use that for my bright photos"

Outfit 2 flaw:
I'm not wearing any shoes and have no matching accessories which is usually something I do. I'm very much a 'matchy matchy' outfit kinda gal if you hadn't already noticed.
I would probably have accessorised this dress with the bright blue colour. Some chunky blue wedges I have and some matching blue earrings. See them in the pic below!

Outfit 1 Details:
• Orange blazer || Millers || Opshopped for $1
• Blue singlet || City Chic || Opshopped New for $4

Outfit 2 Details:
• Blue, purple & fleuro yellow dress || City Chic || $30 from City Chic Harbourtown Outlet in Melbourne.

See you all next week for stripes!
